C1C Year in Review – Celebrating Our 2017 Wins!

The new year is often a time for setting new goals and resolutions, but should also be a time to look back, reflect, and celebrate the wins you experienced over the past year. As we know from goal setting theory, it is just as important to follow-up on goals as it is to set them in the first place. So, in this post I will do just that – share the wins that C1C experienced throughout 2017.

As we know from goal setting theory, it is just as important to follow-up on goals as it is to set them in the first place.

  • We put down roots. After two years of working totally remote, we finally took the plunge and rented some office space. You can now find us in a professional building off 108th & Maple in Omaha. While we still meet clients any place that is convenient for them and work from home at times, we’ve found it very beneficial to have a spot to call our own to hold company meetings and collaborate with each other.

  • We refreshed our look. With support from Shannon Winter Design, we refreshed our look with a new logo, colors, and marketing materials including business cards, company overviews, service sheets, and website. We selected a look that is bold, classic, and unfussy. We hope this refresh will clearly explain the who, what, and how of C1C. Check it out at http://www.category1consulting.com/.

  • We doubled our team. We added two full-time members to the C1C team. We couldn’t be happier to announce that Lindsey Bandow and Laura Olean are now consultants with C1C. You can check them out at http://www.category1consulting.com/about/.

  • We took our own advice. We grew at a pace that allowed us to follow-through on the advice we provide to our clients. We’ve maximized our own effectiveness by creating, following, and regularly updating our business plan; using evidence-based practices when selecting, onboarding, and leading our employees; clearly defining roles and processes; and always following our five-step consulting process to ensure we get it right the first time.

  • We stuck to our mission, vision, and values. Perhaps most importantly, we never lost focus on why we do what we do. We love helping organizations make the decisions and take the steps they need to reach the best outcomes. Because of this passion, we’ve been able to help many organizations over the past year and are extremely excited to continue this work into 2018.

  • We found a bit of balance. When starting a company, work can oftentimes consume much of one’s time. However, as I-O Psychologists, we understand the value of balance between work and non-work. As a result, we really tried to find a balance this year. I took some time to travel with family and friends. I took a girls’ trip to Vancouver, checked out an NFL game in Kansas City (go Raiders), saw a few concerts at Red Rocks, added another music festival to the books with a trip to Bonnaroo, and took my stepdaughter on her first college visit to CSU. We also did some obligatory hiking while on our trip. Amy married her longtime friend and partner Shane McFeely on September 16th in a beautiful outdoor ceremony surrounded by family and friends. I was even given the honor of serving as their officiant. They celebrated their marriage with a honeymoon in St. Lucia.

I hope this post helps you to take some time to reflect on your own wins during 2017, both personally and professionally. If you find yourself in need of additional support to maximize your effectiveness throughout 2018, feel free to reach out!
